Tamara Oei

Tamara Oei has been in the Pharmaceutical and Biotech industry for over 20 years, starting out on Wall Street as a Biotech Analyst. Seeking a greater understanding of the drug development process, Tamara then joined Clinical Operations at several international pharmaceutical companies including Johnson & Johnson and Akzo Nobel. A move to the San Francisco Bay Area, with Genentech, Inc. brought the opportunity to create the US Medical Affairs Clinical Operations department. The experience of leading clinical trial programs and seeing the impact for commercial stage products, led to the desire to understand the potential for the industry and the strategies of competitors, and resulted in a career change to Competitive Intelligence. Competitive Intelligence marked a return to strategic analysis and a more comprehensive and objective point of view, incorporating the external opporttunties. Currently, Tamara leads the Commercial Strategy and Business team at Roche, based in Basel, Switzerland. This team focuses on identifying future long-term and strategic opportunities for Roche. The team works closely with Partnering and Development to drive portfolio decisions. This role brings together the experience as an Analyst on Wall Street, with the understanding of the development lifecycle and the opportunities in the external environment for the industry.
