Barney Poznansky

Barney joined Eradigm in January 2022 as an Associate Consultant, bringing an experience in bioscience research and a passion for improving global healthcare.

He holds a PhD in Interdisciplinary Bioscience from the University of Oxford, which formed part of a Doctoral Training Programme funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council. Barney’s work focused on combining biocatalysts with continuous flow technology to improve the sustainable synthesis of pharmaceutical compounds. He was part of a team of chemists, biologists and engineers who worked to develop this biotechnology and successfully spin-out a company. In recognition of his work on this project, Barney was awarded a commendation in Enterprise and Innovation at the University of Oxford Bioscience Impact Awards.

As part of his PhD, Barney undertook a work placement at a large generics company. As part of the team, Barney applied the processes that he had developed in the academic laboratory to industrially relevant chemical transformations.

Barney completed his formative academic studies at the University of Warwick, graduating with an MChem in Chemistry with Professional Experience. His dissertation focused on performing enantioselective synthesis using novel organocatalysts. During his third year of study, Barney undertook a four-month placement at Monash University, Australia, which ignited his passion for academic research.

Outside of his work, Barney is a keen sportsman, who has played football at university level. He continues to enjoy many other sports, including cricket, golf, and squash, and finds pleasure in cooking, having a particular love for Indian and Italian cuisine. An inherited passion for music took hold during his younger years, growing up in Cornwall, at which time he travelled with local orchestras to perform in locations as far afield as San Francisco.
