Jessica Timms

Jessica holds a PhD in Cancer Epigenetic Epidemiology from Newcastle University, her project focused on DNA methylation as a potential mediator of early life exposures and the risk of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). During her PhD, she worked both in the laboratory and carried out computational analyses, collaborating with different faculties within Newcastle University and Bristol University. Throughout her PhD and post-doc position, Jessica taught molecular, genetic, epigenetic, and epidemiological modules on MSc courses at Newcastle University and supervised and assessed undergraduate/postgraduate students. Additionally, Jessica spent 3 years as a post-doctoral researcher at King’s College London, where her focus was in immune-oncology and computational biology, projects included exploring immune regulation and dysregulation in myeloproliferative neoplasms and myelodysplastic syndromes; and COVID-19 patient immune response to Baricitinib: can we predict immune dysregulation?

Since moving into life sciences consulting, Jessica has been part of, and led a variety of projects, mostly focused on oncology (both heme and solid tumours). Her experience includes data collection and interpretation, designing deliverables, leading client updates, deep-dives, attending conferences, delivering ad-hoc requests, and conducting comprehensive and robust primary and secondary market research. Experience in compiling competitive intelligence for novel therapeutics, including a thorough assessment of the commercial landscape, unmet needs, and market positioning. Additionally, Jessica has designed and run workshops to help clients understand competitors, pressure test assumptions, and gain deeper insight into the scientific aspects of their projects. Jessica has experience with healthcare systems in multiple geographies, including the US and EU.

Outside of work, Jessica loves to explore, whether it is a different country and culture or different parts of the UK, especially trekking through beautiful landscapes. Jessica is also a huge lover of music and spends a lot of time at gigs, events, or festivals.
